Host Lodge
This year’s symposium is hosted by Academia Lodge № 847, California's oldest
Traditional Observance lodge. Academia Lodge was constituted in 2004, and has
provided a strong program of Masonic education to Freemasons of Northern
California ever since. One of the fundamentals of Academia Lodge is our monthly
celebration of Lodges of Instruction, in which original Masonic papers and
reflections are shared in a candle-lit tiled setting, and then discussed during
the formal agape dinner following. Attendees of the MRF Symposium will have an
opportunity to experience this essential aspect of the Traditional Observance
lodge model. [Learn more about Academia Lodge and its seven guiding priciples.]
Host Facility
The Oakland Scottish Rite has kindly provided the setting for our conference.
Attendees will enjoy the beautiful architecture of one of California’s finest
traditional Masonic buildings.
Registration Cost
The cost is $175 per person, excluding flight and hotel. The fee includes all
meals and refreshments.
Lodging & Attractions
The conference’s official hotel is the Executive Inn in Oakland. Shuttle service
will be provided to and from the Temple. Registrants should mention the Scottish
Rite for a discount.
Another good hotel option is the Marriott at Oakland City Center (5 minute taxi
ride from the Temple).
For those who would like to venture outside the Temple for meals and
refreshment, there are two excellent lakefront restaurants nearby; the Lake
Chalet across the street, and the historic Terrace Room one block away.
