¨ THE INITIATION IN THE ANCIENT AND ACCEPTED SCOTTISH RITE
by RW Bro. Leon Zeldis 33, Past Sovereign Grand Commander, Supreme Council of the AASR of the State of Israel.

The Initiation in the craft degrees of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite (AASR) is completely different from the ceremonies currently performed by most lodges in the English-speaking world. It draws its symbolism from various esoteric sources, from Alchemy and Cabbala, from Gnosis and Rose-Croix. Alchemic elements suffuse the entire craft degrees of the Rite, the hidden message being that these degrees transform the profane candidate into a new man, a person who has purified his mind and his spirit, just as the alchemist attempted to purify vile matter to make the philosopher's stone.

¨ PILLARS OF BEAUTY: FREEMASONRY AS AN AESTHETIC TRADITION
by W. Bro. Adam G. Kendall PM, Henry Wilson Coil Library & Museum of Freemasonry, Grand Lodge of F. & A.M. of California.

Freemasonry's ingenious and layers-deep system of rectitude and self-knowledge teaches, at its core, that an individual can build and lead their lives as if it were metaphorically a beautiful, strong edifice.

by Bro. William Steve Burkle KT, 32°, Scioto Lodge No. 6, Chillicothe, G.L. of F.&A.M. of Ohio.

The symbol of the Skull and Crossbones, often called the Memento Mori, is a grim reminder of our own mortality. This paper explores the history of the Momento Mori as artwork, as Christian symbolism, and in the context of it's use in the Christian Chivalric Orders of the York Rite of Freemasonry.

¨ THE EXCELLENCIES OF FREEMASONRY AND FREEMASONS
by VW Bro.Gary Kerkin, Past Grand Lecturer, Grand Lodge of New Zealand.

The attributes which should be manifest in every Freemason are examined in terms of the lines of Kipling's poem "If". Taken separately each of the ideals expressed in the poem may be considered a criterion of the qualities expected of an aspiring Freemason and in practical terms could serve as a guide to the suitability of a candidate.

¨ THE SEPHIROTH AND THE FOUR WORLDS IN THE THREE DIMENSIONAL PERSPECTIVE
by Bro. William Steve Burkle KT, 32°, Scioto Lodge No. 6, Chillicothe, G.L. of F.&A.M. of Ohio.

The concept of the Sephiroth and the Four Worlds is a difficult to understand, but essential, part of Freemasonry. This paper examines features of a Three-Dimensional model of the Sephiroth proposed by Robert Wang, secretary and protege of Israel Regardie of Golden Dawn fame. Wang's three 3-d model portrayes the four worlds with the geometry of the Sephiroth represented as a double cube with a center column as the Pillar of Beauty.

One of the pre-requisites that must be satisfied by a candidate in order to become initiated into freemasonry is to declare belief in a Supreme Being, but the Supreme Being could be interpreted not only as a generic term for God but simply as the hidden answer to the mystery of existence.

¨ A MODERN EXAMINATION OF THE LANDMARKS OF FREEMASONRY
by Bro. Terence Satchell, Mt. Rushmore Lodge #220, Grand Lodge of South Dakota.

This paper reexamines the Landmarks specified by Mackey and Pound. It establishes the criteria which these two authors established to define the individual Landmarks of the fraternity and determines whether these criteria were followed. It also uses more recent documents in Masonic history to see if the fraternity continues to regard these customs as Landmarks and examines the repercussions of not recognizing certain customs as the Landmarks of the order. Finally, the paper creates a set of Landmarks based on this reexamination which could alleviate much debate.

by Bro. William Steve Burkle KT, 32°, Scioto Lodge No. 6, Chillicothe, G.L. of F.&A.M. of Ohio.

The Tetractys and the Sephiroth represent similar concepts; however the link between these two concepts would not be readily apparent were it not for their common use of the Tetragrammaton. The Tetagrammaton serves as a bridge between these concepts which span time, culture (Greek and Hebrew), and multiple Masonic rites and rituals. This paper discusses the Tetragrammaton, the Tetractys, and the Sephiroth and shows how the three are related.

¨ A COMPARISON OF THE BIBLICAL AND MASONIC ACCOUNTS OF THE BUILDING OF KING SOLOMON'S TEMPLE
