Conference. Freemasonry and musical sociability in the Enlightenment: the
triumph of amateurs.
Université Libre de Bruxelles, Masonic Studies Chair
The Chair Verhaegen holds an
annual conference whose goal is to offer the university community and the
general public scientific papers on a topic related to Freemasonry in its
historical, sociological, anthropological, and artistic aspects.
The speaker
will be in 2012 Pierre-Yves Beaurepaire who will speak

in Brussels on the theme of
Freemasonry and musical sociability
in the Enlightenment: the triumph of the amateurs.
Pierre-Yves Beaurepaire is a professor at the University of Nice Sophia
Antipolis. He taught the history of Freemasonry in Brussels, San Francisco and
Tokyo.
The conference will be followed by a concert by the Le Petit Sablon Ensamble
on the theme Echoes of musical practices in the French and Austrian lodges in
the eighteenth century (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ignaz Vitzthumb, and
arrangements of Jacques-Christophe Naudot and Pierre-Alexandre Monsigny).
