- THE INITIATION IN THE ANCIENT AND ACCEPTED SCOTTISH RITE
by RW Bro. Leon Zeldis 33, Past Sovereign Grand Commander, Supreme Council of the AASR of the State of Israel.
The Initiation in the craft degrees of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite (AASR) is completely different from the ceremonies currently performed by most lodges in the English-speaking world. It draws its symbolism from various esoteric sources, from Alchemy and Cabbala, from Gnosis and Rose-Croix. Alchemic elements suffuse the entire craft degrees of the Rite, the hidden message being that these degrees transform the profane candidate into a new man, a person who has purified his mind and his spirit, just as the alchemist attempted to purify vile matter to make the philosopher's stone.
- PILLARS OF BEAUTY: FREEMASONRY AS AN AESTHETIC TRADITION
by W. Bro. Adam G. Kendall PM, Henry Wilson Coil Library & Museum of Freemasonry, Grand Lodge of F. & A.M. of California.
Freemasonry's ingenious and layers-deep system of rectitude and self-knowledge teaches, at its core, that an individual can build and lead their lives as if it were metaphorically a beautiful, strong edifice.
- THE HISTORY AND THE PERSECUTIONS OF SPANISH FREEMASONRY
by VW Bro. Martin I. McGregor, Grand Lecturer, Freemasons New Zealand.
The paper details the history of Spanish Freemasonry from its foundation to the present day and presents considerable details of the persecutions suffered by the Spanish brethren virtually throughout their history.

- "ARE YOU DRESSED FOR LODGE?" ENQUIRED ROSETTE
by W.Bro. David Barrett PM Ra'anana Lodge #70, PGrand Marshal of the G.L. of Israel.
The aim of this paper is to draw the attention to a Masonic item which hardly ever attracts any questions as to its origin, namely the rosette or multiples thereof, found on the Masonic apron and by whose design our place is distinguished on the Masonic ladder.
-THE CRAFT IN ISLAMIC COUNTRIES: an Analytical Review
by WBro Kent Henderson, KCSJ, PJGD, UGL Victoria, Australia
Fellow, Australian and New Zealand Masonic Research Council
The purpose of this paper is to examine the causes of Islamic antipathy towards the Craft, locate them within an historical perspective, and discuss the surrounding issues.
- MEMENTO MORI - THE SYMBOL OF THE SKULL WITH CROSSED BONES
A Perspective on Death and Dying in the Chivalric Orders of the York Rite of Freemasonry
by Bro. William Steve Burkle KT, 32°, Scioto Lodge No. 6, Chillicothe, G.L. of F.&A.M. of Ohio.
The symbol of the Skull and Crossbones, often called the Memento Mori, is a grim reminder of our own mortality. This paper explores the history of the Momento Mori as artwork, as Christian symbolism, and in the context of it's use in the Christian Chivalric Orders of the York Rite of Freemasonry.

-KING SOLOMON AND THE BUILDING OF THE TEMPLE
by RW Bro Rainer k. Janotta 33°, Past District Deputy Grand Master
The American Canadian Grand Lodge within the United Grand Lodges of Germany.
The Building of King Solomon's Temple makes a central religious statement: "There is but one God". This statement binds King Solomon and his Building of the Temple with the operative and speculative Freemasons.

- THE EXCELLENCIES OF FREEMASONRY AND FREEMASONS
by VW Bro.Gary Kerkin, Past Grand Lecturer, Grand Lodge of New Zealand.
The attributes which should be manifest in every Freemason are examined in terms of the lines of Kipling's poem "If". Taken separately each of the ideals expressed in the poem may be considered a criterion of the qualities expected of an aspiring Freemason and in practical terms could serve as a guide to the suitability of a candidate.

A lesson to be learned from typing the wrong email address!
A Welsh couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier.
Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel schedules. So, the husband left Wales and flew to Florida on Thursday, with his wife flying down the following day.
The husband checked into the hotel. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an email to his wife. However, he accidentally left out one letter in her email address, and without realizing his error, sent the email.
Meanwhile, somewhere in England , a widow had just returned home from her husband's funeral. He was a Worshipful brother who was called to the Grand Lodge above following a heart attack.
The widow decided to check her email expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she screamed and fainted.
The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and saw the computer screen which read:
To: My Loving Wife
Subject: I've Arrived
Date: October 16, 2007
I know you're surprised to hear from me. They have computers here now and you are allowed to send emails to your loved ones.
I've just arrived and have been checked in. I see that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow.
Looking forward to seeing you then! Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was.
P.S. Sure is freaking hot down here!
